MORE ON THE GOLDEN TEMPLE & MIRI PIRI ACADEMY - AMRITSAR, INDIA
Dear Ones,
It would be fair to say that it is impossible to take a bad photo of the Golden Temple. . .
whether in the day or the night, some places on Earth are simply elegant beyond any human deficiencies.
The details are as beautiful as the larger dimensions of this structure which has been completely built according to the Vastu Shastra (the science of living structure) architectural technology of thousands of years ago.
And there are details all around the Perkarma (surrounding haloed walkway). By the way this is the origin of my wife's name—-Guruperkarma means the Halo that surrounds the Guru.
First light of the day brings everything to life surrounding these sacred waters . . . all the structures are radiant.
As the day comes forth—-this time of year—-it is warm and then hot . . . the white marble walkway surrounding the nectar tank becomes almost too hot to walk on. For this reason huge long roles (hundreds of feet) of hemp matting are laid out for walking.
Some people have been at this place of worship every morning for decades . . . this traditional Sikh gentleman is one of those people. Every morning that I have had the blessing of being in Amritsar at this sacred site for the past forty years, I have encountered him in the exact same spot . . .
and in the exact same state of grace.
The children of our school—-several times per year—-will perform a forty-day sadhana of coming to the Golden Temple at 2:00 AM and performing the seva of washing the Perkarma.
The waters are so healing that in 1974 they saved my life from Cholera. That is a story I will write here within the next days.
With Love Blessing Prayer and Gratitude,
Guru Singh and Guruperkarma Kaur
