The Turtles of Avalon 1963 - 2008

Sat Nam Dear Ones,

A little history . . .

Forty five years ago—-at the age of 18—-several friends and I traveled from Seattle to Southern California in search of summer jobs on Catalina Island. We all settled in Avalon, Catalina Island for the summer, and several summers thereafter, landed our various jobs and became members of an old island social club called Turtles of Avalon. We have all gone on to make successes of our lives—-the stories are thick like family treasures—-and the love and memories came flooding back as we gathered together this weekend—-back on the Island—-to celebrate our 45 year reunion. We were also here to commemorate the lives of two of our dear brothers and members, who passed beyond Earth within this past year—-David Mimbu, my friend and guitar mentor since grade school, and James Philbrook, a dear brother and philosopher to us all.

Are you a Turtle . . . ?

Always with Sacred Love, Blessings, Prayer and Gratitude . . .
